All weekend I kept thinking about doing a reflective piece on World MasterCard Fashion Week but realized that pretty much everyone who attended is doing that already. One of my favourite reads throughout the week has to be Toronto Standard, specifically Kevin Naulls and his honest reviews. It was fun to see him call out some of the big media and industry people. I think the moral of his stories was that we're all human, there is no need to be nasty with each other.

However, I really enjoyed doing style posts each day last week and introducing you to amazing Canadian jewelers with special giveaways. They are still running for another week, so go ahead and enter!

GIVEAWAYS:

Custom NAYME Necklace
Set of 5 Rings from Tissh by Gloria Lee
$60 Gift Certificate to Keepsake Jewelry by Deborah Kanfer

These photos were taken before WMCFW and I remember it was on a day where it was FREEZING outside, so Maria and I decided to move the shoot indoors. I love the glam look of these, my living room makes for an excellent space to shoot photos. ;)

All I have to say about this outfit is that Red, Black and Gold = Timeless.

WMCFW Fall/Winter 2013: Day 4 (Keepsake Jewelry)

Thursday, March 21, 2013

(Photos by Maria)

Outfit Details: Dress (Monikova), Boots (Vianni Collection), Earrings (Forever 21), Clutch (gift), Necklace + Ring (Keepsake Jewelry)

Thank you for coming back for day 4 of my World MasterCard Fashion Week series. In honour of #WearCanada I've been updating my blog daily with style posts featuring Canadian designers. Last night was incredible and easily one of the best times I've ever had during fashion week in Toronto. I was asked to participate in Rowenta Beauty's "Battle of the Fashionistas" where I went head-to-head with Danielle from Liner & Glitter Gloss. We got our hair done from fabulous hairstylists and had people vote for their favourite 'do on Twitter through the hashtag #RBFWBattle in order to win amazing hair tools from Rowenta Beauty. I was live-tweeting and Instagramming the whole time, click here to see the photos. Other than that I really loved seeing Lucian Matis, KORHANI Home, Mackage and Joe Fresh.

Today I can be found wearing this glamorous sequin dress from Monikova. I discovered her clothing line when I visited Fresh Collective back in January to plan my Valentine's Day mini-series. I've been obsessed with her collections since. She designs fabulous and comfortable tunics that look super chic.

I feel that today's outfit is really vintage-inspired and I'm so happy to share that I'm wearing a necklace and ring from Keepsake Jewelry, a line designed by my wonderful friend Deborah Kanfer. We've been friends for a while and from day one I admired her unique style, so when she first told me she had started designing jewelry I got super excited and knew it was going to be nothing short of amazing!

Designer and friend Deborah is a fine arts photographer and has her artwork featured in local galleries in Toronto. While her true passion is photography, she wanted to share her work with others in a wearable way, and that is how her jewelry came to be. She learned how to preserve the images and make them into necklaces, rings, hair pins and is planning on doing a lot more this year. She also has an Etsy shop online, check it out!

Here is a closeup of my vintage-inspired necklace and ring. I fell in love with both pieces the moment I saw them. Aren't they gorgeous?!

WMCFW Fall/Winter 2013: Day 3 (Tissh by Gloria Lee)

Outfit Details: Skirt (Joe Fresh), Shirt (Forever 21), Crossbody Bag (H&M), Booties (Aldo), Earrings (Butterfly Beads), Ring (Tissh by Gloria Lee)

It's day 3 of World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto! I'm really excited for Lucian Matis and Joe Fresh tonight. Last night David Dixon's fall/winter 2013 collection blew me away. It was so feminine and it was really difficult to dislike a single piece; LOVED everything.

Today I'm wearing a gorgeous sea-green skirt from Joe Fresh's spring line and I've paired it with one of my go-to button up shirts from Forever 21. I wanted to go for something simple, classic yet colourful.

My crystal rhinestone ring is from Tissh by Gloria Lee! It's 18kt gold-plated brass and can be found at a few local retailers including one of my favourite spots, Pomp & Pageantry (112 Scollard Street, M5R 1G2).

Designer Gloria Lee started creating jewelry from semi-precious stones, organic metals and precious metals back in 2005. Soon after she decided to dive into fashion design and took pattern drafting and garment construction courses in Toronto.

I was specifically drawn to Tissh because of all the beautiful quotes that she has representing her style and clothing line spread across her website and her social profiles. She created Tissh for women who are "unapologetic, confident, sensual and vibrant."

WIN A BEAUTIFUL SET OF FIVE RINGS

Gloria Lee of Tissh is giving away a set of FIVE rings to 3 lucky readers! Each set of rings is valued at more than $300, and each set that we're giving away is a different size. You can enter and try your luck for size 6, 7 or 8. You can also choose to enter all three if you really want to win. ;)

This contest is now CLOSED.

CONGRATULATIONS KEYLIN (Size 6), SANDY (Size 7), and ZAHRA (Size 8) FOR WINNING! HOPE YOU ENJOY THESE BEAUTIFUL RINGS!

I generated these winners through Random.org. Fun fact: Keylin actually won through her boyfriend's Twitter entry! So sweet. ;)

WMCFW Fall/Winter 2013: Day 1 (Modern Mix Boutique)

Monday, March 18, 2013

(Photos by Maria)

Outfit Details: Coral Blazer (Joe Fresh), Top (c/o Killigrew Fashion), Jeans (MANGO), Boots (Bamboo), Crossbody Handbag (Aldo), Belt (H&M), Necklaces (Foxy Originals c/o eBay Canada), Earrings (c/o Modern Mix Boutique)

I'm so excited to finally reveal what I've been working on for the past few weeks for this blog and for you, my lovely readers! In honour of Canadian designers and World MasterCard Fashion Week currently happening in Toronto, I have collaborated with local jewelry brands to give away some fantastic pieces. Each day this week, from Monday to Thursday I will feature a different brand and announce a fun contest for you to enter. Prizes range from $40 to $300! Crazy right?!

Today I can be spotted at WMCFW wearing this coral blazer from Joe Fresh, paired with a patterned navy blue top from Killigrew Fashion that I got last summer. Everyone knows that these two colours complement each other perfectly. I added mustard-brown accessories as an accent.

My earrings are from Modern Mix Boutique, a stylish and very affordable online store that launched late last year. Owner Vanessa Choot also writes a Canadian fashion and lifestyle blog called Modern Mix Vancouver. I've had my eye on this e-boutique for a while; what drew me to the line were the unique names for each piece, but also how on-trend everything is. If skulls and studs are in, you can definitely find them here. It's constantly being refreshed and updated; the company also got a website re-design a few weeks ago and it's even easier to navigate now.

Modern Mix Boutique has graciously offered all of my readers a coupon code for 20% off any purchase on the online store! There is no minimum spend, you simply have to use the discount code "SUMMERXSKIN" at checkout. It's valid until April 30, 2013.

But it doesn't stop there!
Modern Mix Boutique is also giving one lucky reader a set of these two bracelets. I picked them out myself, so if you like my style then I think you'll love these! Each bracelet is valued at more than $20. You can pair them together for a vibrant look or wear them separately.
