FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Interview Look

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Outfit Details: Printed Pants + Necklace (c/o H&M), Handbag (Kate Spade), Pumps (Nine West), Ring (Myles Sexton), Bracelet (Drama Queen by Flhair)

This week FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel experts how to dress for an interview and still look stylish. Check out all of the tips (including mine)!

One thing I learned at a very young age from a recruiter was that interviewers may look for a few things when they're analyzing your appearance: how your hair looks and how much skin you're showing.

There is a way around to making sure you can avoid the negative thoughts, and that is simply to tie your hair back and make sure your legs are covered. Luckily, printed pants and skirts are in this season, so why not style one for a chic, office look?

All weekend I kept thinking about doing a reflective piece on World MasterCard Fashion Week but realized that pretty much everyone who attended is doing that already. One of my favourite reads throughout the week has to be Toronto Standard, specifically Kevin Naulls and his honest reviews. It was fun to see him call out some of the big media and industry people. I think the moral of his stories was that we're all human, there is no need to be nasty with each other.

However, I really enjoyed doing style posts each day last week and introducing you to amazing Canadian jewelers with special giveaways. They are still running for another week, so go ahead and enter!

GIVEAWAYS:

Custom NAYME Necklace
Set of 5 Rings from Tissh by Gloria Lee
$60 Gift Certificate to Keepsake Jewelry by Deborah Kanfer

These photos were taken before WMCFW and I remember it was on a day where it was FREEZING outside, so Maria and I decided to move the shoot indoors. I love the glam look of these, my living room makes for an excellent space to shoot photos. ;)

All I have to say about this outfit is that Red, Black and Gold = Timeless.

High-low Dress In The Winter

Outfit Details: Black High-low Dress (Forever 21), Maroon Leggings + Necklace (H&M), Oxford Booties (Aldo), Bracelet (Drama Queen by Flhair), Ring (Myles Sexton)

Many people have trouble with transitioning some of their summer favourites into fall and winter. You may feel like you can't wear a neon top or a bright floral dress during this season, but if it's styled with warmer colours or accessories then you may be able to pull it off without trouble or looking out of place.

I've taken a very popular trend from the summer, the classic high-low dress, and transitioned it into a winter outfit using leggings and colours that are currently on trend. I wanted a gothic-rocker kind of look so I added the studded accessories, making it the main focus of the outfit. That also brought out the gold-button detailing on the shoulders of this dress. Win/win.

Tell me how you plan on wearing some of your summer pieces this season!
