FASHION Magazine Style Panel: The Boys Look

Thursday, October 10, 2013

(Photos by James)

Outfit Details: Shoes (c/o Massimo Dutti), Blazer (c/o MANGO), Jeans (Forever 21), Shirt + Tie + Belt (borrowed)

This week FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel how they would take inspiration from the boys and make an outfit your own. You can find the full article here. Since I've always been drawn to mens fashion and actually love shopping for mens clothing, I was totally up for the challenge.

I wanted to create a very sophistic, yet trendy look. That's where the blazer and cropped jeans came in. This also gave me an opportunity to FINALLY wear these gorgeous Oxford shoes that Massimo Dutti sent me. Of course I had to borrow a lot of items from James to make the outfit work... and voila!

What do you think of my boys look?

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Statement Accessories

Thursday, September 19, 2013

(Photos by James)

Outfit Details: Pants (c/o Massimo Dutti), Top + Flats (H&M), Bag (Rebecca Minkoff), Necklace (c/o Cocoa Jewelry)

Statement accessories was the topic of conversation this week for FASHION Magazine's Style Panel. Read the original article here.

Lately I've been loving the look of multiple necklaces to create a statement of its own. Here I've paired a bright, yellow necklace with a more delicate long gold chain. This contrasts well with the print of my pants, but also hides the fact that I'm wearing a simple navy blue t-shirt.

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Ideal Outfit for Fall 2013

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

(Photos by James)

Outfit Details: Top + Skirt (Forever 21), Boots (c/o ECCO Shoes), Necklace (c/o e-closet)

One trend that I'm absolutely loving this year but haven't experimented with enough is a full black and white outfit. FASHION Magazine asked its Style Panel this week to put together a look that is suitable for Toronto events this season, and since stripes are usually my go-to print, I couldn't help it when I saw this a-line skirt! Click here to read the panel tips.

I also decided to add a bit of deep burgundy with the ECCO boots. I'm anxiously waiting for it to get cooler so I can wear them more often, but they really are super stylish and comfortable.

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Logo T-Shirt

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

(Photos by James)

Outfit Details: Logo Crop Top (Garage Clothing), Jeans + Necklace (Forever 21), Crossbody Bag (Rebecca Minkoff), Bracelets (Dynamite)

For a few years I avoided wearing logo or graphic tees. My go-to outfit usually consists of a dress or skirt, and if I wore pants or jeans it would be with a striped, print or button-up structured top. Recently I've been seeing a lot of graphic tees paired with a-line skirts, layered with a blazer or an abundance of accessories.

When FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel how we would wear a logo t-shirt, I couldn't resist pairing this crop top with high-waisted flared jeans. I contrasted the outfit with bright coloured accessories. I won't lie, I wanted to create a look simply to match my new Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC bag. My top says "BEACH" on it; I'm missing California too much. ;)

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Vacation Mode

Outfit Details: Maxi Dress + Gladiator Sandals (Forever 21), Crossbody Bag (Poppie Jones), Necklace (NAYME), Bracelets (Butterfly Beads), Sunglasses (Chanel)

This week FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel what they would wear on vacation and to share packing tips. Click here to read the article!

While I don't go on long trips often, I try to take off a few days every few months to travel. Unlike most people, I actually really enjoy packing and am usually praised for my skills. I've shared a few tips on this blog before (like last year when I went to Arizona), but have reiterated some of them in this week's Style Panel.

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Interview Look

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

(Photos by Maria)

Outfit Details: Printed Pants + Necklace (c/o H&M), Handbag (Kate Spade), Pumps (Nine West), Ring (Myles Sexton), Bracelet (Drama Queen by Flhair)

This week FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel experts how to dress for an interview and still look stylish. Check out all of the tips (including mine)!

One thing I learned at a very young age from a recruiter was that interviewers may look for a few things when they're analyzing your appearance: how your hair looks and how much skin you're showing.

There is a way around to making sure you can avoid the negative thoughts, and that is simply to tie your hair back and make sure your legs are covered. Luckily, printed pants and skirts are in this season, so why not style one for a chic, office look?

FASHION Magazine Style Panel: Festival Look

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

(Photos by Maria)

Outfit Details: Dress (Costa Blanca), Crop-top + Envelope Clutch (H&M), Sandals (c/o Cat Footwear), Bracelets (Dynamite)

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you may have already heard, but I'm excited to officially announce that I've joined FASHION Magazine Style Panel!

What does that mean? Each week the panel of bloggers and stylists get a trend challenge and we have to share how we would style and wear it. Of course, you don't have to commit to doing the challenges each week, but I will try my best to complete at least 2-3 a month. You can check out my submissions on the official Style Panel website, but I will be sharing them here on my blog as well in case you miss them.

This week, FASHION Magazine asked the Style Panel to create a festival look that is less of a costume, and more for every-day wear. One thing I love about the summer are outdoor concerts, and when I think about what to wear, I'm naturally drawn to something that is casual, comfortable and colourful. I've paired a simple, striped maxi dress with a bright graphic crop-top, don't you just love the floral heart? If I was actually going to wear this at a festival, I would add a sun hat. Instead I kept it more street-friendly with beachy waves and a gold headband.

What do you think of this festival look for everyday wear? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
